SPORTS TOUCH is an excellent reference and training book…a great addition to any person who wants to achieve their best in sports performance.
Since 1996, I have used Kate's Sports Touch Program for the hand-grip strength for repetitive strain injury. I have not only taught my clients this, but my rock climbing has improved due to the preparation I do prior to every climb.
I felt a remarkable difference, especially while belaying. My ability to handle the rope, belay device and carbineers was improved. I feel a greater sense of strength in my grip!
I used Kate's program 3 or 4 times during my day of climbing. I noticed an increase in my contact strength and how relaxed my forearms felt to allow for a better grip. I would recommend this program as a preparation to climb.
I found Kate’s techniques easy to master. I am able to train 100 miles a week and I still feel great! By using the Sports Touch System daily, I am able to recover faster and stay injury free.
Many times, after exhausting all avenues of conventional treatment, I have turned to Kate and her methods to get me back on the court. Her techniques…leave me invigorated and refreshed and full of energy. I have integrated Kate’s routine into a daily ritual, which I used during the Olympic Games in Seoul and the results were impressive. Not only did we win the Gold Medal, and my level of energy didn’t wane during the entire 21 days!
While at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis I met Kate. There she worked on me release my diaphragm, showed me how to rub points so I could breathe better and rebalanced my muscles. This helped me to win the Gold Medal in the long jump and to be able to recover faster.
The SPORTS TOUCH SYSTEM is tremendous! It really makes you get in touch with your mind & body. By utilizing “my athletic ritual”, it brings my body into better muscular balance and I feel more in-sync. My recovery, well, I feel as fresh as when I started! Sports Touch is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it. I have incorporated the system into my training and have found my recovery is faster than ever, especially after races. It is so easy and simple to do – I can do it all myself.

I found these techniques to be simple and easy to learn. Not technical at all. There was no right way or wrong way to do them, which is why it is so easy. (At the Ironman Triathlon 1989)... I felt very strong going into the race and Kate's techniques just helped me even more. My legs felt great and they never got heavy or tender.
At the 1989 Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii, Montgomery’s athletes recovered in an unheard of 24-72 hours! The next day I felt fine – absolutely fantastic – already thinking about next year! Gauging by what I feel was an unbelievable recovery, I would recommend these techniques to anyone!
My swim time is usually 1:10 to 1:20. To my surprise, I did it in one hour flat and I felt great! I always get sick on the bike. I rubbed the diaphragm NLR point and I never got sick and I rode faster, breathing easier.

Two weeks after I attended a workshop on carpal tunnel syndrome Kate had given, my face was severely scratched in a dog and cat fight. My injuries required five hours of plastic surgery and 40 stitches. Remembering Kate's story about a young girl, I called as soon as I could to get her Herbal Healing Balm. Kate's book, Sports Touch, which I went home with after my session with her, has many tools and techniques I can use to balance and heal my body. It has helped me put together my own daily ritual to clear, balance, and recharge. The illustrations make it so easy! It is clear and concise. Everyone can use it, not just athletes.

Kate’s book is so easy to read and follow with large font, pictures and illustrations. For the athlete who wants a great performance and then recover quickly this is the book for you! Kate has put together Sports Rituals for 30 different sports.The book details out techniques that can be done every day to help keep the body balanced and in constant flex of recovery. What I like best about Sports Touch is that you can look at the techniques, pick out what you want to do and design your own Sports Ritual. Adding in other things as well that enhance your individual program. I wish I had had this book when I was coaching girls track and PE. I personally use her book to enhance my own health and wellbeing. I ride a recumbent trike (3 wheels) , do many miles and her techniques have helped me to recover from long rides. Thanks Kate for writing a well put together book that I will certainly use for a long time.
